April 2022 Update

This week the HOA Board requested and received some updated information on the upcoming plans for replacing many sections of our sidewalks within the neighborhood.  This has been a slow process, but we will see improvements this coming summer.  Here are the details as we can share them today:

• The City has just completed writing up the bid package and it has been sent out to the roster of contractors to get bids.  The winner (after going through the committee and council approvals) will be the one actually doing the repairs.  Right now the project is scheduled to go to the City Council on 6/7/2022, and the work begin at the end of June unless the contractor needs to delay the start.  Those repairs are likely to take through the month of August to complete.
• Si View neighborhood has 20-25 sidewalk sections which are less than optimal;  in fact, if you have walked the neighborhood recently you will likely notice new paint marks on both the sidewalks and on a few of our trees.
• Due to the fact that the trees are the primary reason for the sidewalks being in the condition they are, the City will not be replacing any trees which are removed as a part of this repair process.  The reasoning provided was that the landing strips are actually too narrow for street trees and replacing the trees would simply be setting things up for a repeat 20-30 years down the line.
